National Instruments 782715-01 Backshell Connector Kit

Part Number 782715-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments NI-9927 Backshell Connector Kit. The 782715-01 is designed to work with 10-position screw terminal connectors on devices such as the NI-9474 Digital Output Module. A backshell kit is used to protect the operator from electric shocks and hazards during the operation of the said devices. On the other hand, the NI 9981 backshell kit is used with the spring terminals in the NI-9474. Furthermore, if your devices operate in high-vibration settings, you should also use ferrules to terminate wires to the detachable connector. 

The 782715-01 is one of the safety measures to protect the device and the operator from hazardous voltages. When using the kit with a device such as the NI-9474, there are other multiple precautions that the user must take. Hazardous voltages, in the context of NI-9474, are those voltages that exceed 42.4 Vpk voltage or 60 VDC to earth ground. First, you should avoid mixing hazardous voltage circuits and human-accessible circuits on the same module. Likewise, the hazardous voltage wiring should only be performed by a trained professional and you should ensure proper insulation between the operator and the circuits connected to the module. 

When using the 782715-01 with devices like the NI-9474, you should also ensure proper ambient conditions for their operation. First, the ambient temperature must range between -40 °C to 70 °C at a relative humidity of 10% to 90%. Likewise, this module is only used in indoor settings within a maximum altitude of 2000 m.
