National Instruments FD-11953 FieldDAQ Field Serviceable Connector
The National Instruments FD-11953 (Part Number: 785943-01) is an IP67-rated field serviceable connector for industrial and automation applications. This shielded 8-pin M12 male right angle connector provides optimized field installation for rugged and reliable device connection under harsh conditions. The shielded housing and screw termination ensure secure and efficient connectivity even in the most challenging conditions. The FD-11953 has a male angular M12 connector with 8 pins, enabling a wide field of applications where compactness and durability are required. The design of the connector ensures it meets IP67 standards for protection against dust, water, and other environmental elements when properly connected. In this respect, it is perfect for outdoor use or locations with the risk of moisture, dirt, or other contaminant exposure.
Screw termination is the connection type, with end splices to secure wires. This will make it very flexible in that the screw type of method is easily serviced and modified in the field with a minimum of special tools. It uses a wrench size of 18mm, while the recommended tightening torque is 0.6 Nm in order to properly seal and have a reliable connection. This is an important feature to minimize the chances of an accidental disconnection or electrical failure occurring in the field.
The FD-11953 works within a broad temperature envelope from -40°C to +85°C, and thus shall be intended for application in industrial surroundings of various kinds. For nominal voltage, it allows a maximum of 30 V AC/DC. Maximum current per contact should be 2 A. At the same time, the rated impulse voltage constitutes 0.8 kV and makes the connector very resistant against voltage surges or spikes.
This connector is applicable for conductors with a cross-section up to 0.5 mm² and will accommodate cables having a jacket diameter between 6.0 and 8.0 mm. The pollution degree is 3, while the material group is Category III as per IEC 60664-1, and hence it will be suitable for industrial-grade applications requiring a very high level of safety and reliability.
