This device is designed to be used in industrial environments where automation systems involve high voltage levels. The NI 9940 comes with integrated strain relief. You can use the strain reliefs of this backshell kit for keeping the signal wires in order and efficiently fastened. This device is designed for 36-position spring terminal modules. A single unit can only be used with a single 36-position connector.
The NI-9940 is often recommended to be used with the National Instruments NI-9375 C Series Digital Modules or the cRIO-9974 Terminal Block Plug. However, it can be used with other devices, modules, and cards, with spring terminal connectivity. The NI-9940 Backshell Connector Kit is designed to withstand high voltage levels because it is made from industrial grade plastic that has powerful insulation properties. This Backshell Connector Kit is not recommended for D-SUB connectors.
