National Instruments NI-9949 RJ-50 to Screw-Terminal Accessory
The NI-9949 (Part Number: 196809-01) is an accessory from National Instruments. This accessory is designed for the conversion of RJ-50 connections into screw-terminal connections by offering screw-terminal access to a broad range of devices that are compatible with RJ050 cables, such as the SCXI-1314T and the NI-9237. This accessory is designed to route each RJ-50 receptacle’s pin to the corresponding screw terminal. For instance, when the NI-9949 and the NI-9237 are connected, "pin 1" on the RJ-50 receptacle of the NI-9237 connects to "Terminal 1" on the 's screw-terminal connector of the NI-9949. The RJ-50 connector's shield is denoted by S, and pins 1 through 10 stand for the pin and terminal numbers that the NI-9949 routes to the appropriate screw terminal. This industrial accessory is designed to work over a wide temperature range from -40 to 70 °C. This device has 12 screw terminals available. Physically, the NI-9949 weighs 1.5 oz, and measures 2.58 x 0.84 x 1.24 in. in dimensions. The RJ-50 receptacle of this device is designed to receive any standard RJ-50 male plug.
In order to mount the accessories, M4x20 screws (or equivalent) are required. Additional required materials for using the NI-9949 include a plastic tie strap for strain relief. This plastic tie should be wrapped around the front two holes of the accessory. When connecting multiple wires to a single terminal on the NI-9949, you must use 2-wire ferrules to provide a secure connection.
The NI-9949 is no longer available from National Instruments (NI), but the Screw-Terminal Accessory will remain available in perpetuity from Apex Waves!
