National Instruments SCB-68 Shielded I/O Connector Block

The SCB-68 (Part numbers: 776844-01, 782914-01) is a noise-rejecting, shielded I/O Connector Block manufactured by National Instruments. Part number 782914-01 refers to the version of the SCB-68 that is specifically made for R Series DIO and HSDIO Products. This Connector Block has two general-purpose breadboard areas and features screw terminals for simple I/O connections or for the CA-1000.

The NI SCB-68 comes equipped with an onboard cold-junction compensation sensor, which is designed for affordable thermocouple measurements. This Shielded Connector Block is compatible with 68-pin X Series, M Series, E Series, B Series, S Series, and R Series DAQ devices. The SCB-68 has a general breadboard section for customized circuitry and sockets for interchanging electrical components. The Connector Block can function with low-noise and rugged signal termination with a shielded cable. The sockets or component pads enable filtering, voltage attenuation, 4 to 20 mA current input measurement, and open thermocouple detection. The component pads on the SCB-68 enable users to add signal conditioning to the analog input, analog output, and PFI 0 signals of a 68-pin or 100-pin DAQ device with ease. It has a temperature sensor output and accuracy of ±1.0 °C over a 0 to 110 °C range and 10 mV/°C respectively. The NI device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. It has a typical power requirement of 1 mA at +5 VDC (with no signal conditioning installed), a maximum requirement of 800 mA from the host computer.

The SCB-68 is manufactured with 68 screw terminals to render simple connection to 68-pin or 100-pin data acquisition (DAQ) devices from National Instruments. To decrease noise on the Connector Block, you can link a one-pole RC lowpass filter to the analog inputs. The device has a 14-30 AWG wire gauge and is equipped with one 68-pin male SCSI I/O connector.

The SCB-68 weighs 13 oz, and measures 7.7 x 6.0 x 1.8 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 70 °C and –20 to 70 °C respectively, and a non-condensing humidity range of 5 to 90% RH.
