National Instruments 779140-01 C Series Digital Module

Often called the NI-9476, the 779140-01 is a flexible 32-channel, 500 μs source digital output module from National Instruments. This module supports voltages ranging from 6 V to 36 V, contingent upon the external power source, and is compatible with industrial logic levels and signals. Between the output channels and the backplane, it has transient overvoltage protection. With a 1,000 Vrms isolation from channel to earth ground, the 779140-01 is compatible with any NI CompactRIO or NI CompactDAQ chassis. Furthermore, each channel's overcurrent and short-circuit protection status can be programmed monitored by users.

With its high accuracy readings and ability to connect to a wide range of industrial switches, transducers, relays, solenoids, and motors, the 779140-01 is designed to satisfy the requirements of advanced data acquisition (DAQ) and control applications. Compatibility with a wide variety of sensors and signals is ensured by the measurement-specific signal conditioning included in each module. Because of this, the device is suitable for applications that need to be very reliable and perform well in harsh conditions.

The 779140-01 consumes minimal power—a maximum of 250 mW in active mode and a mere 25 μW in sleep mode—indicating its efficiency. The module dissipates a maximum of 1.5 W at 70 °C, which keeps it cool and effective even under load.

This NI module works well along with the CompactRIO and CompactDAQ platforms. The LabVIEW reconfigurable I/O (RIO) architecture is utilized by these systems to offer programmable processing, triggering, and timing features. The modular I/O and robustness of CompactRIO systems make them ideal for embedded applications. Comparably, CompactDAQ provides a resilient and transportable data gathering platform with modular input/output that allows for direct connection to an array of sensors and signals.
