The part number 779892-02 from National Instruments is the identifying part number for the NI-9871 C-Series Interface Module. This module is designed to be supported by Compact RIO platform by national instruments. This module is equipped with data line ESD protection with a voltage of up to 15kiloVolts (human body model) ensuring durability and reliability in demanding conditions. The module’s Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is 514,016 hours at 25 °C, highlighting its long-term reliability. The module features safety standards with a maximum RS485 receive signal voltage of –8 to +13 VDC maximum from port to COM. It also has isolation voltages of up to 60 Volts DC continuous for port-to-earth ground and withstand voltages of 1000 V RMS, thus ensuring safe applications for various industrial applications.

This module is engineered to withstand operating vibrations of 5 grams , 10 to 500 Hz random while 5 g, 10 to 500 Hz sinusoidal and operating shock of 30 g, 11 ms half sine; 50 g, 3 ms half sine; 18 shocks at 6 orientations. This serial interface module consumes a maximum of 0.5 Watts in active mode and 50 µW maximum in sleep mode from the chassis while its thermal dissipation is 1.5 W max in active mode and 55 mW max in sleep mode. It requires an external supply voltage range of +8 to +28 V DC with a typical power consumption of 0.1 Watts and a maximum of 3.5 Watts.

The serial interface module is designed with an ingress protection rating IP30 and a pollution degree of 2. The 779892-02 module has an operating temperature of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for harsher industrial environments.
