National Instruments 785989-01 Current Input Module 

National Instruments part number 785989-01 is an identifying part number for the NI-9253 a C Series Current Input Module. The NI 785989-01 is an analog input module for CompactRIO and CompactDAQ systems. It features 8 channels that can handle an input range of ±20 mA. The module can sample data at rates up to 50 kS/s with a resolution of 24 bits. It includes diagnostic tools like power supply monitoring, configurable thresholds, and open channel monitoring. A dedicated LED shows the status of the channels and power supply, making it easy to check if the device is working correctly. 

It is hot-swappable, so you can move it between CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems without modifications. It also has built-in signal conditioning circuitry. Each channel's signal is buffered, conditioned, and then sampled by an Analog-to-Digital converter. The Current Input Module includes several programmable hardware filters. You can reduce system noise by selecting from comb and Butterworth filters. An external power supply can be connected to the NI 785989-01 to supply current to connected devices. 

This C Series module operates within a temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, making it suitable for various applications in both moderate and harsh environments. The module features a Delta-Sigma Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) with analog prefiltering, designed to enhance signal accuracy and reduce noise. It operates in simultaneous sampling mode, allowing multiple channels to be sampled at the same time. The internal master timebase has a frequency of 12.8 MHz, ensuring precise timing for data acquisition. The typical input current range is ±21.9 mA, providing flexibility in measuring various current levels. Additionally, the input resistance between the analog input channels and the common ground is 79 Ω, contributing to stable and accurate measurements.
