National Instruments NI-9230 C Series Sound and Vibration Input Module
The National Instruments NI-9230 (Part numbers: 784396-01, 783824-01, 783824-02, 140553A-01L) is a 3-Channel Sound and Vibration Input Module. This model is designed to measure signals from both the integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) type sensors and non IEPE type sensors, such as proximity probes, tachometers, accelerometers, etc. Moreover, users can have this module utilized with smart TEDS sensors. The National Instruments NI-9230 can operate over -30 V to 30 V analog input voltage range. This module features software-selectable AC and DC coupling, IEPE signal conditioning, as well as EPE open/short detection.
The three input channels on the NI-9230 can simultaneously measure signals at 12.8 kS/s per channel. Each channel comes with integrated anti-aliasing filters that adjust to the sample rate automatically. When used in conjunction with NI software programs, the NI-9230 provides processing functionality for condition monitoring like order tracking and frequency analysis. This Sound and Vibration Input Module comes in two variations: one version with screw terminal type front connectors (Part Numbers: 783824-01 and 783824-02 (conformal coated)) and another one with BNC front connectors (Part Number: 784396-01).
This module incorporates a 24-bit, Delta Signal ADC (analog-to-digital converter). The input circuitry of the NI 9230 buffers and conditions the input signal before the isolated ADC samples them. With this module, users can configure each channel for AC or DC coupling through software. For channels operating with AC coupling, users can also switch on or off the IEPE excitation current. To provide an accurate and actual representation of in-band signals, the NI-9230 module utilizes a combination of analog and digital filtering. This C Series Module consumes 1 Watt of power at the most in Active mode.
The NI 9230 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with application development environments like LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI.
The BNC fitted model of the NI-9230 weighs 5.6 oz, while the screw terminal fitted model weighs slightly less at 5.0 oz. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of -40 °C to 70 °C and -40 °C to 85 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10 to 90% RH and 5 to 95% RH respectively, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively-all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
