National Instruments NI-9232 Sound and Vibration Input Module
Featured with software-selectable AC/DC coupling and IEPE signal conditioning (0 mA or 4 mA), the National Instruments NI-9232 (Part Numbers: 784397-01, 782000-01, 782000-02, 140188B-01L) is a C Series Dynamic Signal Acquisition Module. This 3-channel model offers up to 102.4 kS/s per channel sample acquisition rate and can simultaneously acquire samples on each of its three channels. It has a typical analog input voltage range of ±31.5 V.75
The NI-9232 is not only compatible with integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) sensors but can also be used with non-IEPE sensors and smart TEDS sensors (IEEE 1451.4 TEDS Class I). This module is available with BNC connectors (Part Number: 784397-01) or screw-terminal connectivity (Part Numbers: 782000-01 and 782000-02). The different versions of the NI-9232 are identical in specifications, except the 782000-02 is conformal coated for added environmental protection.
The screw-terminal model of the NI-9232 has three 2-terminal removable screw-terminal connectors. These connectors provide access to three differential analog input channels, sampled simultaneously. The analog input channels of this module are referenced to ground through a 50 Ω resistor, and overvoltage protection of ±45 V is provided for a low impedance source. The NI-9232 uses a combination of analog and digital filtering, ensuring an accurate representation of in-band signals while rejecting out-of-band signals.
This Dynamic Signal Acquisition Module is equipped with a 13.1072 MHz internal master timebase and can export its master timebase or accept an external master timebase. To synchronize the NI-9232 with other modules operating on different master timebases, users must ensure that all modules share a common master timebase source. The NI-9232 offers 60 VDC continuous channel-to-earth ground isolation and is tested to withstand 1,000 Vrms.
The screw-terminal model weighs 5.0 oz, while the BNC model weighs 5.6 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and a storage temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The module can withstand random vibration of 5 grms and sinusoidal vibration of 5 g, both within a 10 Hz to 500 Hz frequency range.
