National Instruments NI-9264 C Series Voltage Output Module
Designed to accommodate higher-channel-count systems, the National Instruments NI-9264 (Part Numbers: 780927-01, 785190-01, 785190-02, 780927-02, 198844A-01L, 193290C-01L) is a 16-Channel, 16-bit analog output resolution Voltage Output Module. This model comes with a ±10 V output range and a sample rate 25 kS/s per channel. Since it is a higher-density module, it conserves chassis space and offers spare room for other measurement types. Each of the 16 channels on this device has String type DAC (digital-to-analog converter); thus, users can achieve up to 25 kS per second update rate at every channel.
Based on connector type, this module is available in four variations. The spring-terminal version (Part Number: 785190-01) of the National Instruments NI 9264 incorporates a 36-position connector for output channels with each having a ground connection. The D-SUB connector version (Part Number: 780927-01) comes with an ability to accommodate 37-pin D-SUB, standard components. The two other versions include part number 785190-02 with spring terminal connectors, and part number 780927-02 with D-sub front connectors. These two versions come with conformal coated front connectors. Hazardous voltages can be linked to the NI 9264 module with spring terminal connectors, but not to the NI 9264 with D’Sub connectors. When linking to hazardous voltages, the user should utilize the NI-9940 Connector Backshell to guarantee that the terminals are inaccessible.
The device is compatible with software packages such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA module, and LabVIEW Real-Time module. In its standard configuration, the NI 9264 Voltage Output Module powers on with all channels in the "off" setting. This module has 0 V startup and power-down voltage requirement. The NI 9264 module operates at 2.0 Ω output impedance and can provide ±16 mA maximum current drive on all channels and ±4 mA typical current drive per channel. The overvoltage protection is set to actuate ±27 V at 25 °C. This device incurs 500 μVrms, 85 dB Crosstalk, and its slew rate remains around 4 V/μs. While operating in active mode, the NI 9264 consume 1 Watt of maximum power, and 25 μW maximum when in sleep mode. The spring terminal model of the device weighs 5.7 oz, while the D-Sub models weighs slightly less at 5.2 oz.
