National Instruments NI-9425 C Series Digital Module
The NI-9425 (Part Numbers: 779139-01, 785044-01, 780176-01, and 784718-02) is a C Series Digital Module, which comes with 12 V/24 V digital I/O logic levels, 32 digital channels (Sinking Input), and 7 μs maximum update rate. This NI device is equipped with either a spring terminal (part number 785044-01) or D-SUB (part number 779139-01) front connector. Part numbers 780176-01 and 784718-02 also feature D-SUB connectors and are conformal coated.
This Digital Module can be directly connected to a range of industrial switches, transducers, and devices by using industrial logic levels and signals. Every digital input line can handle logic values up to 24 V, and the module offers isolation between the input and output banks from channel to earth ground. The NI-9425 utilizes sinking inputs, which provide a path to COM when the connected sourcing device either applies voltage or drives current to the digital input.
There are multiple safety guidelines in place for the NI-9425 in order to handle hazardous voltages. For both the spring terminal and D-SUB versions of the device, the channel-to-channel has a maximum voltage of ±60 V for up to 8 channels simultaneously. For the simultaneous channel-to-channel of all the channels, this maximum voltage lowers to ±30 V. The module can be connected to sourcing-output devices that are two, three, or four wired. When a voltage or current within the input ON range is applied to the digital input by the sourcing-output device, the NI-9425 channel registers as ON. When the module drives a current or applies a voltage that falls inside the input OFF range to digital input, the channel is recorded as OFF.
The spring terminal fitted model of the NI-9425 weighs 5.7 oz while its D-SUB counterpart weighs slightly less at 5.2 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 °C, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10 to 90% RH and 5 to 95% RH respectively, and random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
