National Instruments NI-9472 Digital I/O Module
The NI-9472 (Part Numbers: 779004-01, 783907-01, 779137-01, 779004-02, 189200-51, 189200C-01) is a 24 V Digital I/O Module designed to work with industrial logic levels and signals. This model has 8 channels and 100 µs. The NI-9472 comes from the C Series of National Instruments Modules. Part number 779004-01 has a screw terminal connection, part number 783907-01 has a spring terminal connection, part number 779137-01 has a D-SUB connection, and part number 779004-02 has a screw terminal connection that is conformal coated. Part number 189200-51 is the Red Module OEM version of the NI-9472.
This device can easily be connected with a wide range of industrial transducers, switches, and other devices. Each of its channels is compatible with 6 V to 30 V signals. There is an integrated transient overvoltage protection provided between the backplane and the output channels. An LED is also there to indicate the current status.
The NI-9472 can interact with a variety of logic and voltages levels. Thus, it is an ideal solution for a broad range of industrial and benchtop environments. This model also offers isolation options, with sourcing outputs to bring additional protection to the user’s digital I/O application. When used with CompactRIO, the user can employ LabVIEW FPGA for the creation of custom high-speed timers or counters, pulse generation, digital communications programming, and much more. The NI-9472 is entirely compatible with CompactDAQ systems for data acquisition and signal conditioning.
This module is fully compatible with LabVIEW, meaning that the user can design and test their applications in a productive graphical environment. The default power-on output state of this module is set as, "Channels Off." This model can handle up to 0.75 A maximum continuous output current (I0), per channel at an output impedance of 0.07 Ω (typical) and 0.13 Ω maximum. The NI device has a power consumption value of up to 230 mW when active, and 0.4 mW maximum when in sleep mode.
The screw terminal model (779004-01) of the NI-9472 weighs 5.3 oz, the spring terminal model (783907-01) weighs 4.9 oz, and the DSUB model (779137-01) has a weight of 5.1 oz. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of -40 °C to 70 °C and -40 °C to 85 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 Hz to 500 Hz.
