National Instruments NI-9476 C Series Digital Module
The National Instruments NI-9476 is a 32 channel C Series Digital Module with three part numbers, which have a few differences. The first part number, 785045-01, has 250 Vrms channel-to-earth isolation, a spring terminal front connector, and no conformal coating. The next part number, 779140-01, has 60 V DC channel-to-earth ground isolation, D-Sub front connectors, and no conformal coating. Lastly, part number 780175-01 features 60 V DC channel-to-earth ground isolation, D-Sub front connectors, and is conformal coated. All other specifications between the different part numbers for the NI-9476 module (except for measurement category and physical weight) are the same. The device’s channels are equipped with circuitry to protect them from current voltage surges.
The NI-9476 is a 32 Digital Output Channel module with a 40 us maximum update rate. This module interacts with a variety of industrial devices, switches, and transducers by working with industrial logic levels and signals. The NI 9476 module adds protection to the user’s digital output connections with the isolation and sourcing features, making it ideal for an array of bench top and industrial environments. This module is compatible with both CompactDAQ and CompactRIO platforms. It can be programmed using software packages such as LabVIEW professional Development System for Windows, LabVIEW FPGA Module, and the LabVIEW Real-Time Module. The digital I/O logic levels on this module are 12V, 24V. The NI 9476 requires an external power supply that provides a voltage range of 6 V to 36 V. The NI-9476 C Series Digital Module is hot-swappable, which means that the user can move it between systems without altering it. The device is equipped with either a D-SUB or spring terminal front connector.
The spring terminal model of the device weighs 5.9 oz., while the D-SUB model weighs slightly less at 5.2 oz. The NI instrument has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, and an operating humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH. The spring terminal model has a maximum altitude of 5,000 m while the DSUB model has a 2,000 m altitude.
