National Instruments NI-9485 C Series Relay Output Module

The NI-9485 (Part numbers: 779600-01 and 779600-02) is a C Series Relay Output Module manufactured by National Instruments, which is featured with SSR sourcing or sinking technology. The NI-9485 module is compatible with CompactRIO chassis and CompactDAQ chassis. With 8 SSR Solid State Relay Output Channels, each one is able to get an SSR. The maximum switching voltage range of each channel is about 60 VDC, 30 Vrms. The maximum switching current range is up to 1.2 A / channel. It is applicable to four channels. The maximum switching current range increases up to 750 mA for 8 complete channels. Each channel also features channel-to-channel isolation. The Relay Output Module is designed to be used for a variety of industrial applications.

The relay open time of the NI-9485 module is about 0.5 ms, with a relay close time of about 9.0 ms. This module has maximum resistance in active mode is around 200 mΩ with an off stage leakage of around 30 μA. This module is perfect for applications in industrial DC devices, actuators, and motors. If needed, the module can easily be cleaned with a dry towel. 

The screw terminal connectors of the Relay Output Module have copper conductor wiring and a wiring gauge of about 30 AWG to 14 AWG. The strip length of the wire is 0.24 inches, with insulation stripped from the end. The torque range of the screw terminals is 0.22 N · m to 0.25 N · m. The screw flanges provide safety to the connectors. The device has a power consumption value of 500 mW maximum when active, and consumes up to 5 mW when in sleep mode.

The NI-9485 can be programmed using software packages such as LabVIEW Professional Development System for Windows, LabVIEW FPGA Module, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module. The NI device weighs 5.1 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, an operating and storage humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH respectively, and a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5 g–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
