National Instruments NI-9870 C Series Serial Interface Module
The NI-9870 Serial Interface Module (part numbers: 779891-02, 779891-03, 198850E-01L, 195926A-01) adds serial RS232 ports to CompactRIO frameworks. The device has a power consumption of 0.5 W maximum when active, while it consumes up to 50 µW when in sleep mode.
This model comes with 4 RS232 (TIA/EIA-232) ports, baud rates from 14 bit/s to 921.6 kbit/s, individual 64 B UART FIFO buffers per port, 8 to 28 VDC remotely fueled; and a PC-MF4-PT link included. It has a maximum cable length of 250 pF equivalent. The NI 9870 is run using the NI-RIO driver software which is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW development system, LabVIEW FPGA module, Visual C#, or Visual C++.
The NI device weighs 5.4 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5g respectively – at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
