National Instruments cRIO-9112 CompactRIO Chassis

National Instruments designed the cRIO-9112 (Part Number: 780916-01), a rugged FPGA chassis, for use in industrial control and monitoring applications. It is equipped with a Virtex-5 LX30 FPGA, which provides high-speed I/O control and reconfigurable processing capabilities for inline data processing.

Distributed control systems' capability can be expanded by using C Series I/O modules, which are supported by the chassis. It requires a compatible CompactRIO Controller for communication with the installed modules. With 19,200 flip-flops and 19,200 6-input LUTs, the cRIO-9112's FPGA offers enough of logic resources for developing unique applications. It also has 32 DSP48 slices with 25 × 18 multipliers, which improves signal processing capabilities.

It provides effective memory management for data modification and storage with 1,152 kbits of inbuilt block RAM. The cRIO-9112 provides timing precision with an accuracy of ±100 ppm (max) for timebases between 40 and 200 MHz. Depending on the chosen frequency, frequency-dependent jitter can range from 250 ps to 422 ps. In terms of power consumption, the chassis requires a maximum of 500 mW at +5 VDC and 2,100 mW at +3.3 VDC, for a total of 2,600 mW at full load.

With a weight of about 880 g (31 oz), the chassis is appropriate for a range of industrial settings. With a temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, the cRIO-9112 guarantees dependable performance even in harsh conditions. It functions at altitudes of up to 2,000 m and satisfies IP 40 specifications for ingress protection. The standards for shock and vibration include 5g of random vibration (10 to 500 Hz), 5g of sinusoidal vibration (10 to 500 Hz), and shock resistance of up to 30 g (11 ms half sine) and 50 g (3 ms half sine).
