The flexibility of the 778618-01 reduces inventory costs and production downtime. The sensors are available with or without ground connections and can withstand temperatures up to 482°C (900°F). For applications using thermowell, optional springs reduce installation time and ensure proper contact with the thermowell. The device comes equipped with 36 screw terminals. The NI 778618-01 Connector Block features a security separation barrier between the I/O channels and the module communication bus, with no isolation between channels unless specified otherwise.
Thermocouple output signals are typically in the millivolt range and have low voltage temperature sensitivity, requiring careful consideration of potential errors that can affect measurement accuracy. Common errors include CJC, gain and phase shift errors, noise, and thermocouple inaccuracies. The 778618-01has up to 36 terminals, which are wired using 16-26 AWG copper conductor wire with 6 mm (0.24 in.) of insulation stripped from the end. The V and C terminals have a maximum current rating of 4 A, while the other terminals are rated at 2 A.
