National Instruments cFP-AI-100 Analog Input Module for Compact FieldPoint
The National Instruments cFP-AI-100 (Part Number: 777318-100) is an 8-Channel, 12-bit, Current and Voltage Analog Input Module. The NI cFP-AI-100 comes with onboard diagnostics and overhanging to ensure easy and straightforward installation and maintenance. This module measures signals after the onboard linearization of signal returns scaled values to the user’s monitoring or control applications.
This Analog Input Module features 11 input ranges and offers 250 Vrms CAT II channel-to-ground isolation on a continuous basis. Its 11 input ranges are: 0–1 V, 0–5 V, 0–15 V, 0–30 V, ±1 V, ±5 V, ±15 V, ±30 V, 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and ±20 mA. Moreover, it also allows hot swapping of the I/O modules. All eight channels share one common ground reference. The common ground reference remains isolated from other modules installed in your FieldPoint system. The NI cFP-AI-100 can measure current from various sources: 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, and ±20 mA. In this module, current flows into the terminal Im, passes through a 100Ω resistor, and leaves the circuit through the C or COM terminal. The current entering through the Im terminal is read as positive, while current passing out of the terminal is read as negative. The over-ranging feature incorporated in this model allows it to achieve measurements slightly beyond the nominal values.
The NI cFP-AI-100 comes with successive approximation, 12-bit ADCs (Analog to digital converters). This Analog Input Module offers 360 Hz update rate on all channels. This module has two Green LED indicators to show the power and readiness status of the device. There is also one red indicator provided as the Out of Range indicator.
The Analog Input Module weighs 5.1 oz, and measures 4.3 x 4.3 x 3.6 in. in physical dimensions. The NI device has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of –40 °C to 70 °C and –55 °C to 85 °C respectively, a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%, random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 Hz to 500 Hz.
The cFP-AI-100 is no longer available from National Instruments, but the Analog Input Module will remain available in perpetuity with Apex Waves for either repair services or purchase!
