National Instruments cFP-PWM-520 Digital Output Module for Compact FieldPoint
The NI cFP-PWM-520 (Part Number: 777318-520) can be utilized to control the power of numerous DC-powered instruments. If the user pulses the input voltage and changes the duty cycle, then they can complete analog control on numerous DC instruments. The cFP-PWM-520 module is regularly used to competently control power such as the speed of a DC servo motor, the heat output of an industrial heater, or the intensity of a light bulb. This Digital Output Module for Compact FieldPoint features onboard diagnostics to guarantee simple installation and maintenance without hassle.
The cFP-PWM-520 module mounts on the cFP-BP-x or cFP-180x Compact FieldPoint Backplane. This module does not have channel-to-channel isolation, but does have optical bank isolation with 2,300 VRMS of breakdown isolation. This hot swappable module has eight PWM sourcing output channels, On/Off LED indicators, and short-circuit protection for outputs. The channels have an output frequency of up to 1 kHz, and a duty cycle of 0 to 100%.
The eight output channels on the NI cFP-PWM-520 Digital Output Module are optically isolated from the remainder of the FieldPoint bank. The channels on this module are sourcing outputs with short-circuit protection circuitry. For sourcing current, the VOUT terminal delivers a path to a voltage supply. In the ON state of the output period, a transistor is turned on between VSUP and VOUT. However, in the off state, the transistor is powered off, enabling only a minimal amount of leakage current to flow. If the protection circuitry notices a short-circuit on an output channel, it will deactivate the output. If the protection circuitry deactivates an output that would otherwise be in the ON setting, then the status indicator for the corresponding channel remains lit, but the output transistor will not be on. The NI device weighs 3.9 oz, and measures 5.00 x 2.60 x 0.94 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of –40 to 70 °C, and a storage temperature range of –55 to 85 °C.
The cFP-PWM-520 has been declared as Obsolete by National Instruments, but the Digital Output Module will still remain available in perpetuity for repairs or purchase with Apex Waves.
