National Instruments cDAQ-9189 CompactDAQ Chassis

The National Instruments cDAQ-9189 (Part Numbers: 785065-01, 785065-02, 787930-01) is an 8-slot CompactDAQ Ethernet chassis designed for distributed sensor measurement applications. This chassis enables synchronized measurements across multiple channels, making it ideal for high-performance data acquisition. With support for parallel operation of advanced output modules, it allows users to run multiple software-timed tasks while maintaining synchronization. The cDAQ-9189 also features a programmable debouncing filter on each Programmable Function Interface (PFI) signal, ensuring accurate signal processing by sampling inputs through a user-configured Filter Clock from the chassis time base. The 785065-02 variant includes conformal coating for enhanced environmental protection.

For precise edge counting applications, the cDAQ-9189 employs a high-resolution counter that can be configured to count rising or falling edges on the Source input. Users can control the counting direction and retrieve counter values on demand or through a sample clock. Buffered edge counting enables the device to store sampled values in FIFO memory, facilitating high-speed data transfers via the STC3 system. Additionally, the chassis supports single-pulse width measurement by counting edges on the Source input while the Gate input remains active, then storing the count in FIFO upon deactivation of the Gate signal. The voltage input range of the chassis is measured at the power connector, ranging from 9 V to 30 V. The maximum power consumption of the device is 16 W.

The cDAQ-9189 is fully compatible with NI-DAQmx driver software, allowing seamless integration with application development environments such as LabVIEW Real-Time Module. This compact and lightweight device, when unloaded, weighs 37.6 oz (1065.9 g) and measures 10.74 x 3.47 x 2.45 inches (272.8 mm × 88.1 mm × 62.3 mm). This makes it incredibly easy to deploy in various test environments.

Built for durability in a range of applications, the cDAQ Chassis operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 70°C with a storage temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The humidity tolerance of the device ranges from 10% to 90% RH for operating conditions and 5% to 95% RH for nonoperational / storage conditions. These environmental specifications meet the requirements of the IEC 60068-2-1, IEC 60068-2-2, and IEC 60068-2-56 standards.
