Featured with the MXI bus connector and a Virtex-5 LX110 FPGA, the National Instruments NI-9159 (Part Number: 781315-01) is a durable CompactRIO Chassis. This model comes equipped with 1 MXI Upstream Port, 1 MXI Downstream Port, 4 DIP Switches, and 1 Power Connector on the front panel. In addition, there is 1 Power LED and 3 User LEDs to keep the user informed and updated about various crucial processes running. The National Instruments NI 9159 Chassis offers an FPGA based high-performance and high-throughput cabled connection with possible data rates to 250 MB/s maximum.
The data rate possible with the MXI-Express incorporated in this unit is around 20 times greater than an EtherCAT or Ethernet expansion Chassis. This 14-port CompactRIO Chassis is ideal for custom signal processing, mixed-signal conditioned I/O, and for applications where large-channel counts are needed. The NI-9159 allows connection to dual-core and quad-core PXI, PC, and industrial controllers’ running compatible Windows OS or LabVIEW Real-Time for the formulation of most stable RIO systems available.
This Chassis can be acquired in various panel mounting options and can be mounted on a DIN-rail as well. The Virtex-5 LX110 FPGA incorporated in the NI-9159 offers 69,120 flip-flops, 69,120 LUTs, 4608 kB of block RAM, and has 64 multipliers. This FPGA is superior to its predecessors as it comes with a unique DSP48E slice to handle complicated math. The NI-9159 CompactRIO Chassis can be operated within the temperature range of 0 degrees C to 55 degrees C.
