National Instruments sbRIO-9607 Single-Board Controller
The sbRIO-9607 (Part Numbers: 783816-02 and 783816-01) is a Single-Board Controller developed by National Instruments. This controller is designed to seamlessly integrate into applications with the popular family of CompactRIO products, and it can be activated by NI CompactRIO Device Drivers. The NI sbRIO-9607 can be utilized with multiple types of LabVIEW application software, including LabVIEW 2015 FPGA Module, LabVIEW 2015, and LabVIEW 2015 Real-Time Module. The supported operating system for running the device is the 32-bit version of NI Linux Real-Time, and it is equipped with a reconfigurable Xilinx Zynq-7000 FPGA. This controller has a dual-core processor.
The NI sbRIO-9607 is built with ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. It features 512 MB of nonvolatile memory and an equal amount of 512 MB for volatile memory (DRAM). The controller offers a processor speed of 667 MHz, with a flash reboot endurance of 100,000 cycles. The embedded processor of the NI Controller works in real-time, and the device boasts a RIO Mezzanine Card (RMC) connector. This RMC connector features 96 single-ended digital input/output lines, all of which are directly linked to the FPGA with the capability of adding a maximum of two extra peripherals and C Series devices.
There is both a front panel Ethernet port and an RMC Ethernet port on the NI sbRIO-9607 Controller. Additional connections include RS-232 (DTE) Serial Ports, RS-485 Serial Ports, CAN ports, USB Ports, and an RMC Connector. With the RMC, the maximum power consumption of this device reaches 28 W. It has a typical battery life of 10 years when used with a power connector, and a battery life of 2.5 years when in storage at 55 °C. The sbRIO-9607 weighs 3.069 oz, and it has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C with a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C. The relative humidity range for both operational and storage conditions is noncondensing, and ranges from 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH respectively.
sbRIO-9607 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves in perpetuity.

National Instruments sbRIO-9607 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What do the Status LED patterns indicate about the status of the sbRIO-9607?
Answer: If the LED blinks twice and then pauses, it indicates that the controller in safe mode—software has been installed incorrectly, software has not yet been installed, or a software upgrade error has occurred. These necessitate reinstallation of the software.
If the LED blinks 3 times followed by a pause, it indicates that the device is either in safe mode, install mode, or was forced into safe mode by the user. If the LED blinks 4 times followed by a pause, it either indicates that the Single-Board Controller is in safe mode, or that the software has crashed twice without rebooting inbetween crashes. If the LED blinks continuously, it means that the controller has not booted in NI Linux Real-Time. If the LED is on only momentarily, that means that it is booting up. If the LED is off, it is in run mode with no issues.
Question: What kind of battery does the controller use?
Answer: The sbRIO-9607 uses a lithium cell Real-Time Clock battery that stores the system clock information when the device is turned off.
Question: I'm not sure if I have the right power supply. How do I power on the sbRIO-9607?
Answer: The Single-Board Controller requires an external power supply of 9 VDC to 30 VDC in order to operate.
Question: What is the difference between the two part numbers for this device?
Answer: Part number 783816-01 represents the "dev kit" version of the device, while part number 783816-02 is for the "OEM kit".
