National Instruments sbRIO-9651 cRIO System on Module Device

The sbRIO-9651 (Part Numbers: 783525-01783525-02, 783525-03) is a cRIO System on Module Device developed by the manufacturer National Instruments. The difference between the different part numbers for this model is that part number 783525-01 is a SOM Development Kit, while part number 783525-02 is an OEM Kit and part number 783525-03 is the conformal coated version of the OEM kit. This module works with the NI-RIO Device Drivers from August 2014 or later. The sbRIO-9651 also supports LabVIEW software, including LabVIEW FPGA Module 2014 or later, LabVIEW 2014 or later, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2014 or later. The module can be used with the AlphaNovatech, S01LZZ0E-A heat sink and several types of mating connectors. It is designed to be used with the NI Linux Real-Time (32 bit) operating system.

The National Instruments sbRIO-9651 is equipped with a reconfigurable Xilinx Zynq-7020 FPGA and features an ARM Cortex-A9 architecture. Equipped with a dual-core processor that has a speed of 667 MHz, the DRAM volatile memory of the module is 512 MB while the non-volatile memory measures 512 MB. This System on Module is designed, validated, and assessed for dependable and high-volume OEM applications. For optimal connectivity, it is assembled with a range of serial ports, such as USB, RS-232, and RS-485. The maximum data rate of the device is 480 MB/s for USB interfaces, and it features CAN0, CAN1, and Ethernet support. 

To make validation thermal solutions easier, there are three integrated temperature monitoring sensors included with the NI sbRIO-9651. Factors such as mounting, neighboring power dissipation, and resource consumption all have a significant impact on the thermal performance of NI sbRIO devices. The operating temperature and storage temperature ranges are the same, measuring from -40 °C to 85 °C. Physically, the SOM Device measures dimensions of 50.8 mm × 76.2 mm (2.0 in. x 3.0 in.) and weighs in at 77 g (2.72 oz). 

While the sbRIO-9651 now has limited availability from National Instruments, the module will still be fully available for purchase and repairs with Apex Waves in perpetuity.
