The National Instruments 780877-10 (NI-9211) is a high precision 4-channel temperature input module designed for accurate thermocouple measurements. This device supports various thermocouple types including J, K, T, E, N, B, R and S. It includes built in cold junction compensation and an internal autozero channel to minimize offset error that ensures accurate temperature readings. It offers precise measurements even in demanding environments with a 24 bit Delta Sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The module also provides a fast conversion time of 70 ms per channel totaling 420 ms for all channels.
This 780877-10 module features excellent noise immunity boasting a common mode rejection ratio of 95 dB between channel and COM and over 170 dB between COM and earth ground. This helps reduce noise interference in the signal. The device operates over a wide common-mode voltage range from ± 1.5 V between the channel and COM and ± 250 V from COM to earth ground. The isolation barrier between the channel and earth ground adds an extra layer of safety supporting up to 250 V RMS continuous isolation and withstanding 2,300 V RMS. This temperature input module is built to handle rugged environments with operating temperature ranges from - 40 °C to 70 °C and ingress protection rated at IP40.
