This model offers 2 x 12-bit analog outputs and 8 digital I/O lines. The National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-1 utilizes E-Series technology to provide the user with high-performance and reliable DAQ capabilities. With this model, the user can accomplish up to 1.25 MS/s sampling rate with 12-bit resolution and 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog inputs. The device is equipped with a 68-pin male 0.050 D-type I/O connector.

This device has an onboard temperature sensor to ensure that its operating temperature is within the specified range. The National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-1 supports both analog and digital triggers and has an input range of ±0.05 to ±10 V. It has 2 12-bit analog voltage outputs, with an output rate and range of 1 MS/s and ±10 V respectively. The device has 2 counter/timer I/O lines with a 24-bit resolution, and base clocks of 20 MHz, 100 kHz (with an accuracy of ±0.01%). The National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-1 features an onboard self-calibration mechanism as well. This system provides a precise voltage as a reference for measurement accuracy and calibration. The self-calibration function operates through software alone and has no potentiometers to adjust. For optimal resolution, this DAQ offers up to 15 input ranges even for smaller than 50 mV signals. The device has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes and should be calibrated at least once a year.

The NI device weighs 4.1 oz, and measures 6.9 x 4.2 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C.
