National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-4 Multifunction I/O Device
The National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-4 (Part Numbers: PCI-6040E and 777383-01) is a Multifunction, Plug-n-play, PCI controlled and powered Data Acquisition Device. This device can acquire 250 kS/s while operating in multichannel mode, and 500 kS/s when operating in single-channel scanning mode. The PCI-MIO-16E-4 has 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog input channels with 12-bit resolution, and eight 5 V TTL/CMOS digital I/O lines. Moreover, 2 analog output channels with 12-bit resolution, a sample rate of 512 Samples/s, with an output range of ±10 V are also provided. Data transfer for the device through DMA channels use scatter-gather modes. This I/O device is also known as model name PCI-6040E.
This Multifunction I/O Device tends to operate in seamless synchronization with various National Instruments devices. For timing related functions and synchronization, it comes equipped with 2 timing I/O channels with a 24-bit resolution, and a frequency of 20 MHz. It has a small input signal bandwidth of 600 kHz, and a large input signal bandwidth of 350 kHz. In addition, the NI PCI-MIO-16E-4 is designed to work with externally generated timing signals. The analog outputs featured in this device can be used for waveform generation with a frequency of 1 MS per second. The two internal counters come with two inputs (gate and source), two software registers, and one output which is used in different applications. This device is fitted with a 68-pin male SCSI-II connector.
The PCI-MIO-16E-4 DAQ can work with any PCI compatible personal computer operating on Microsoft Windows or Mac OS. The 16-bit analog inputs of this DAQ device support differential input mode also. Thus, 8 differential inputs are also possible with this device. With this Multifunction I/O Device, you can configure each analog output channel for either bipolar or unipolar output. The NI DAQ PCI-MIO-16E-4 supports both digital hardware-timed and software-timed generation. This PCI data acquisition board is fully compatible with NI-DAQ, which is a robust driver software that comes with various helpful features such as cleaner code development, automatic code generation, test panels, etc. The device measures 6.9 x 4.2 in. in physical dimensions as well as a warm-up time of 15 minutes. It is gnereally recommended to calibrate the device in an interval of 1 year.
