National Instruments PXI-6040E Multifunction DAQ
The NI PXI-6040E (Part number: 777484-01, 184361A-01) is a 12-Bit DAQ designed for multifunction data acquisition. It has 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog input channels with a maximum sampling rate of 500 kS/s, and 2 analog outputs. This model is one of the most accurate and fastest multiplexed data acquisition devices available on the market. It’s an ideal solution for high-speed data logging, high voltage signal measurements, sensor measurements, control applications, etc.
This model comes with software controlled single point input, which is a high-performance driver engine designed to achieve up to 50 kHz rate with NI-DAQ. The NI PXI-6040E comes with LabVIEW Integration. All functions use the waveform type of data, which carries timing information and acquired data directly into hundreds of LabVIEW built-in testing and analysis sequences to generate results in graphs or engineering units. The NI-DAQmx driver software is compatible with other application development environments (ADEs) such as LabWindows/CVI or Measurement Studio.
The NI PXI-6040E offers 0.008 mV measurement sensitivity. This model comes with a 68-pin male 0.050 D-type I/O Connector. It can also receive an external input for the digital or analog trigger at 10 kΩ impedance. In addition to non-referenced and differential single-ended modes, the PXI-6040E offers referenced single-ended mode (RSE) to be used with floating signal sources.
With this model, the user will be able to scale their voltage data quickly into the appropriate engineering units with the help of measurement ready virtual channels, by selecting from a list of signals and common sensors or by creating a customized scale. This model also incorporates an NI PGIA instrument and measurement class amplifier that assures settling times regardless of gains. In most cases, commercial amplifiers fail in meeting the settling time requirements for applications with high-gain measurements. The device has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes and should be calibrated at least once a year. The NI device measures 6.3 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0° to 55° C.
The PXI-6040E is now considered Obsolete and is no longer available from National Instruments, but the Multifunction DAQ will still remain available for purchase and repairs with Apex Waves in perpetuity.
