National Instruments PXIe-1486 PXI FlexRIO GMSL™ Interface Module

The National Instruments PXIe-1487 is a PXI FlexRIO GMSL™ Interface Module that offers high-speed digital communication for vision and imaging applications. This module develops a high-throughput and adaptable GMSL interface on PXI by combining the strength of the Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link interface from Maxim Integrated with the Xilinx FPGA. The PXIe-1487 is the best option for applications requiring hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), lab-based playback, or in-vehicle data logging.

The PXIe-1487 provides different configurations of serializers and deserializers to suit your specific needs The variations of the PXIe-1487 include; 8 Input, 8 Output, and 4 Input/4 Output options- allowing you to choose the perfect module for your application. The 8 input version of the PXIe-1487 can be found as part number 788719-01. Part numbers 788715-01 (MAX96717 serializer) and 788719-01 (MAX96717F serializer) describe the 8 output variations of the module. The part numbers for the 4 Input/4 Output variation are the 788714-01 (MAX96717) and the 788781-01 (MAX96717F).

The PXIe-1487 includes an innovative FlexRIO driver that facilitates power-over-coax, I²C backchannel communication, and GPIO operations over GMSL™ channels. This makes it easier and quicker to control and access these channels. Additionally, using LabVIEW FPGA can help you quickly and easily develop your custom interface. In order to effectively use the PXIe-1487, you will need a PXIe chassis that can handle a slot cooling capacity of at least 58 W. Additionally, you will need either a camera or device for Deserializer/SerDes modules and an engine control unit for Serializer/SerDes modules. A PXI Express embedded controller or PC with MXI controller system is also necessary.
