National Instruments 778927-01 GPIB Instrument Control Device
The high-performance IEEE 488 controller device 778927-01, also known as the PXI-8331, is made for computers that have USB slots. It can turn any computer into a fully functional IEEE 488.2 controller. When utilizing a laptop for portable applications or in configurations without internal I/O slots, this small, light device is perfect. Using the Hi-Speed USB port, the 778927-01 achieves maximum IEEE 488.2 performance and can manage up to 14 programmable GPIB instruments without the need for a GPIB cable for instrument connection.
The 778927-01 is fully compliant with IEEE 488.2, and it comes with a license for the NI-488.2 driver software, which guarantees the highest level of dependability when establishing connections with external instruments that support GPIB. Because of its plug-and-play interface, the device can be quickly set up with little downtime as the operating system can recognize and configure it immediately as soon as it is connected to a USB port. The device is compatible with Windows 2000/XP and offers industry-leading GPIB performance using both standard and high-speed IEEE 488.1 handshakes. It does this by taking advantage of the higher performance of high-speed USB 2.0 signaling at 480 Mb/s.
The IEEE 488.2 ASIC TNT family Talker/Listener/Controller IEEE 488.2 is used by the 778927-01 to implement all of the GPIB controller functions that are necessary and suggested by IEEE 488.2. This covers pass/receive control functions, normal and extended talker and listener activities, serial and parallel polling, and service requests. The 778927-01 can run directly off the USB port; it doesn't need an extra power supply.
Along with extra utilities and wizards to help troubleshoot applications and shorten development time, the 778927-01 comes with the comprehensive NI-488.2 driver. Applications created for other National Instruments GPIB controllers can continue to function without modification, guaranteeing interoperability with current systems. The device offers remarkable data transfer speeds with support for up to 7230 kbytes/s with HS488 and up to 1830 kbytes/s with 3-wire GPIB.
