The GPIB-1284CT is recommended for use with software tools like LabVIEW and LabWindows. The NI GPIB-1284CT is compatible to with Windows 3.1 or DOS operating systems.

This GPIB Controller is designed as a parallel-to-GPIB interface. The GPIB-1284CT is also designed as a bidirectional controller. The National Instruments GPIB-1284CT is constructed with two parallel ports. On the NI GPIB-1284CT GPIB Controller, the controller functions, IEEE 488 talker mode, and listener functions are carried out by TNT4882C. These functions are required for the IEEE 488.2 protocol.

The GPIB-1284CT utilizes an internal switching power supply or external DC power input to be integrated with ease into any application. This GPIB Controller additionally has an output parallel port for transparent pass-through connection This GPIB Controller requires a maximum current of 700 mA for the DC version. The current requirement is 55 mA for 100-120 VAC and 45 mA for 220-240 VAC for the AC version. The NI GPIB-1284CT is certified with an EMI code of FCC Class A. The GPIB-1284CT operates safely in a temperature range of 0 to 40° C.
