National Instruments GPIB-422CV MicroGPIB IEEE 488 to RS-422 Converter
The GPIB-422CV (Part Numbers: 180465-02 and 180465-32) is a MicroGPIB Converter for IEEE 488 to RS-422. Part number 180465-02 has 256K RAM and 115 VAC, while part number 180465-32 has 256K RAM and 230 VAC. The NI GPIB-422CV Converter is designed by National Instruments. The NI GPIB-422CV does not require any special commands or programming code for control. The GPIB-422CV uses a transparent data conversion mode between ports. This MicroGPIB Convertor is also equipped with a character buffer. This buffer can identify the slower device and separate it from the faster port. This feature increases the overall efficiency of the convertor.
The NI GPIB-422CV can interface a GPIB Controller or any GPIB module to a PC or device with an RS-422 port. This MicroGPIB Convertor can provide a facility to the GPIB module for connecting to the RS-422 devices such as a printer, plotter, and other instruments to a GPIB network. This MicroGPIB Converter’s GPIB functionality is delivered by the NEC uPD7210 chip, which is programmed and sustained by the operating system. The GPIB port and serial port are interrupt driven and have quick response times to external data transfers. In addition, the GPIB-422CV is fully compatible with the Macintosh serial port.
The NI GPIB-422CV is a powerful 8-bit micro-computer. The National Instruments GPIB-422CV contains an operating system unit in Read-Only Memory (ROM). This MicroGPIB Converter is capable of addressing memory of 256K dynamic RAM. The GPIB-422CV has a current requirement of 640 mA typical and 750 mA maximum.
