National Instruments 779778-01 PXI Multifunction I/O Module 

National Instruments part number 779778-01 is an identifying part number for the PXIe-6259, a PXI Multifunction I/O Module with 6 differential or 32 single-ended analog Input channels and 4 analog output channels with 16-bit ADC Resolution. This module can be calibrated to minimize analog input and output errors caused by time and temperature drift during operation. An internal reference ensures accuracy and stability without the need for external circuitry, even with changes in time and temperature. 

While the earliest version of NI-DAQmx compatible with the PXIe-6259 is NI-DAQmx 8.3, National Instruments recommends using the latest version of NI-DAQmx that is supported by your operating system. This module supports data transfers via PCI, PCI Express, PXI, and PXI Express using DMA (scatter-gather), interrupts, and programmed I/O. For USB, it supports USB Signal Stream and programmed I/O. The sample rate is 1.25 MS/s for a single channel and 1.00 MS/s aggregate for multiple channels. 

The NI 779778-01 Multifunction I/O Module supports several analog input ground-reference settings: Non-referenced single-ended mode, Referenced single-ended mode, and Differential mode. In Non-referenced single-ended mode, the module measures the voltage of an analog input relative to one of the AI SENSE or AI SENSE 2 inputs. In Referenced single-ended mode, it measures the voltage of an analog input signal relative to AI GND. In Differential mode, the module measures the voltage difference between two analog input signals. 

The ground-reference setting specifies how to connect the analog input signals to the PXIe-6259. Ground-reference settings are programmed per channel, allowing configurations like eight single-ended channels and four differentially-configured channels. National Instruments has declared Obsolete status for the 779778-01, however, it is still available for purchase at the Apex Website.
