National Instruments PXI-6224 Multifunction I/O Module
The PXI-6224 (Part number: 779114-01) Multifunction I/O Module belongs to the M Series by National Instruments. This module contains DAQ-STC2 and DAQ-6202, which has many important features, including: a PXI interface, PLL for clock synchronization, static DIO signals, true 5 V high current drive DO, digital waveform acquisition and generation, numerous triggering modes, versatile AI and AO sample and convert timing, and more. Along with the other devices in the M Series, the PXI-6224’s analog inputs and outputs have calibration circuitry to fix gain and offset mistakes. The module can be calibrated to reduce AI and AO mistakes from time and temperature drift at run time. External circuitry is not required because an internal reference guarantees the utmost preciseness and steadiness, even during time and temperature alterations.
The National Instruments PXI-6224 has the following specifications: 16 differential or 32 single ended analog input channels, two general-purpose counters/timers, one frequency generator channel, 16 bits resolution, 250 kS/s maximum sample rate, and 50 ns timing resolution.
The front-end signal conditioning system for the PXI-6224 Multifunction I/O Module is SCC, which contains a shielded carrier that can hold as many as 20 single- or dual-channel SCC modules. SCC systems provide the most complete and versatile signal connectivity options. Several of the system features are: a versatile architecture, high bandwidth, easy portability, and small-channel systems. The measurement technology can be selected individually for each channel. A maximum of 16 analog input channels and eight digital I/O lines can be conditioned. Lastly, signals can be obtained at rates as fast as 1.25 MHz. The PXI-6224 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is programmed with application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. It has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be externally calibrated at least once a year. The standard 3U PXI device weighs 5.9 oz. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 ºC to 55 ºC and -20 ºC to 70 ºC respectively.
The PXI-6224 is considered Obsolete by National Instruments, but the Multifunction I/O Module will still be available in perpetuity for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
