National Instruments PXI-6225 Multifunction I/O Module
The PXI-6225 (Part number: 779296-01) Multifunction I/O Module from the M Series by National Instruments has 40 differential or 80 single ended analog input channels, 16 bits resolution, a maximum sampling rate of up to 250 kS/s, two analog output channels, and 24 total digital I/O/PFI channels. There are a few main blocks in the analog input circuitry for the NI PXI-6225: the I/O connectors (2 68-pin VHDCI), ground-reference settings, instrumentation amplifier (NI-PGIA), and mux. The I/O connector permits the user to link analog input signals to the module. Next, the ground-reference settings circuitry decides between referenced single-ended, differential, and non-referenced single-ended input modes. The NI-PGIA is a measurement and instrument class amplifier that decreases settling times for all input ranges; preciseness can be sustained even while sampling numerous channels quickly. Lastly, the multiplexers (mux) can route a single AI channel at once to the ADC by way of the NI-PGIA.
The National Instruments PXI-6225 Multifunction I/O Module can also be linked to floating signal sources, such as optical isolators, thermocouples, isolation amplifiers, transformers, and battery-powered devices. If the input signal is less than 1 V, the signal leads go through loud atmospheres, the leads linking the signal to the device are longer than 10 feet, or two analog input channels are accessible for the signal, then differential links should be utilized with floating signal sources. On the other hand, if the input signal is higher than 1 V or the leads linking the signal to the device are smaller than 10 feet, then non-referenced single-ended (NRSE) links should be utilized with floating signal sources. The module has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once a year.
The standard 3U PXI device weighs 6.1 oz. The NI device has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 ºC to 55 ºC, a storage temperature range of -20 ºC to 70 ºC, and a noncondensing humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH.
The PXI-6225 has been announced as Obsolete by National Instruments (NI), but the Multifunction I/O Module will still be available for both purchase and repairs in perpetuity with Apex Waves.
