National Instruments 779505-03 MXI-Express Kit
The 779505-03 MXI-Express Kit is an integral part of the MXI-Express x1 series by National Instruments. This remote-control kit includes a PCIe-8361 MXI-Express device for PXI remote control installed in a PC. It is connected to a PXI-8360 module in slot 1 of a PXI chassis via a copper MXI-Express connection. Users can use MXI-Express with applications designed for PXI systems managed by PCI remote controllers such as MXI-3 or MXI-4 because it offers a single PCI Express link with x1 lane width, guaranteeing software compatibility with PCI.
The 779505-03 MXI-Express Kit comprises the PCIe-8361 board, a low-profile interface with standard brackets, and the PXI-8360 PXI remote control module. The PCIe-8361 board, installed in the PC, connects to the PXI-8360 module using a durable screw-in connector, supporting copper MXI-Express cables up to 3 meters long. The PXI-8360 module, placed in slot 1 of the PXI chassis, has a bridge that converts the PCI Express link to the PCI bus used.
This kit is designed to add PXI chassis to a system employing PCIe-8361 boards in a PC with accessible PCI Express slots. It can provide a sustained throughput of 110 MB/s for a single chassis and up to 160 MB/s for two chassis. Although joining multiple PXI chassis is not supported by the 779505-03, users can use MXI-4 to connect multiple PXI chassis in a system in a daisy-chain or star configuration.
