The NI PXIe-PCIe8372 (Part Number: 779722-03) has a sustained throughput of 832 MB/s, which is the highest throughput in the MXI-Express x4 Series. This MXI-Express Kit is comprised of a PCIe-8372 board in the user’s PC attached with a x4 MXI-Express cable to a PXIe-8370 module in slot 1 of a PXI Express chassis. The advantage of using the PCIe-8372 is that it offers two cabled PCI Express links, unlike the PCIe-8371 which only offers one link. The result of implementing the PCIe-8372 into a PC is that each link can be utilized to cable to a separate PXIe-8370 module in a different PXI Express chassis. Then, the user can control two PXI Express systems at the same time. Another advantage of this National Instruments MXI-Express Kit is that it does not involve any type of programming.
The high-bandwidth serial links offer the capability to utilize high-performing desktop computers, servers, and workstations to control PXI Express systems. The National Instruments PXIe-PCIe8372 has a x4 PCI Express form factor, as well as slot compatibility with x4, x8, and x16 PCI Express slots. However, the user should keep in mind that certain motherboard manufacturers designate the x16 slot for graphics utilization. This means that they may preinstall a graphics board or set the link to x1. To prevent this from occurring, the user can check with the motherboard manufacturer to see if it is possible to utilize the x16 slot for a nongraphics board.
