National Instruments  781094-01 Industrial Power Supply

Part Number 781094-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments PS-16 Industrial Power Supply. The AC input voltages that can be applied to the 781094-01 lie in the rated ranges of 90 to 132 VAC or 180 to 264 VAC while DC input is not allowed. On the other hand, it can generate a guaranteed minimum output voltage of 24 to 28 V (nominal output is 24 V) whereas the maximum can reach up to 30V.

The nominal output current depends on the output voltage and the operating conditions: 12 A at 24V and < 45 °C, 10 A at 24V and < 60 °C, 10.3 A at 28V and < 45 °C and 8.6 A at 28 V and < 60 °C. The nominal output power is 288 W at < 45 °C and 240 W at < 60 °C. 

The 781094-01 can be operated in a serial, parallel, or two-phase configuration. When operated in a serial configuration, the output voltage increases. You can connect several units in series as long as the sum of output voltage does not exceed 150 VDC. On the other hand, parallel configuration guarantees better system availability ensuring normal operation even if one of the units fails. However, tracing failure can be challenging as the status LED still stays ON due to the power from another unit. It is recommended to use separate input fuses for each power supply and to connect each power supply to different phases or circuits whenever possible. Lastly, when used in two-phase power mode, a fuse or a circuit breaker must be used to protect the neutral input, and the phase-to-phase connection is only allowed when the supply voltage is less than 240V + 10%.

The 781094-01 measures 60 x 124 x 117 mm in physical dimensions and weighs 700g. The recommended temperature range for the operation of the module is –25 °C to +70 °C. Likewise, it can be stored at a much wider range of –40 to +85 °C. Likewise, the recommended humidity levels lie between 5 to 95% r. H. while the recommended altitude ranges between 0 to 6000m.
