National Instruments PCMCIA-232 Serial Interface Device
The National Instruments PCMCIA-232 (Part Number: 777379-01) is a 1-port Serial Interface Device. This device can be used with a 1-connector DB-9 interface cable. The DB-9 male connector offers standard pin arrangements for RS232 and RS485 connections since it is the same type of connector used in standard desktop computers. This serial hardware offers you a broad range of solutions for serial communications.
The NI PCMCIA-232 is designed for standard PCMCIA sockets or expansion slots found in notebook computers. Thus, it does not require an additional power supply and instead draws the required current from its host slot. This PCMCIA serial hardware card is a Type II PC Card and requires 40 mA of current at +5 VDC while operating in a typical configuration. The National Instruments PCMCIA-232 supports cabled serial communication at distances up to 50 ft. The 16550-compatible receiver/transmitter incorporated in this card enables it to fully comply with standard PC communication ports.
The FIFO buffers featured by this device enable it to provide faster transmission rates and make it less prone to interrupt latency. Users can adjust FIFO buffer settings to ensure even reliable communication according to their requirements. Moreover, you can alter a variety of other parameters by accessing your device through the Windows device manager utility. The National Instruments Serial Hardware driver provides the user with an easy-to-use interface for the installation and customization of their serial hardware. This device offers maximum transfer rates up to 921.6 kb/s and comes with 16 B transmitter and receiver FIFO buffers.
