National Instruments PXIe-5699 PXI RF Attenuator

The National Instruments PXIe-5699 (part number: 789050-01) is a single-channel RF Attenuator that is capable of attenuating signals by up to 90 dB. For high dynamic-range use cases, the device can increase the gain range of a PXI Vector Signal Transceiver (VST) by switching at speeds of less than 100 ns and adding an extra passthrough. In addition, the device enables system-level calibration by using inbuilt switches for routing RF signals.

The front panel I/O of the PXIe-5699 is equipped with a range of connectors that make it easy to integrate the device into a wide range of applications. The connector type of each RF port of the Attenuator are female SMA connectors, and their nominal impedance is 50 Ω. These RF ports are designed for AC coupling, and the absolute maximum reverse power measures at +25 dBm. In terms of DC voltage for these ports, the absolute max voltage is ±40 V.

The front panel of the RF Attenuator also includes an 8-Channel Digital I/O port that has a Mini-HDMI connector. This port is part of the 3.3 V voltage family, and it has a signal-ended signal type. The input range has an absolute maximum of -0.5 V to 5 V, and the port has an impedance of 100 kΩ.

The nominal power requirements for the PXIe-5699 RF Attenuator differs depending on the voltage, with 1 A at +3.3 V DC and 0.5 A at +12 V DC. The total power of the device is 10 W.
