Astronics Ballard Technology/National Instruments LV-222-511-442 PXI Avionics Multiprotocol Interface Module

The LV-222-511-442 (Part Number: 784805-01) is a PXI Avionics Multiprotocol Interface Module that supports both the ARINC 429 and the MIL-STD-1553 protocols. Thus, you can use this module to design systems where simultaneous access to the above mentioned two types of avionics databusses is required. The powerful configuration enables the module to carry out multiple functions across three different systems, with the third being PXIe.

This PXI Avionics Multiprotocol Interface Module is a combination of an OmniBus II PXIe carrier board, a “511” MIL-STD-1553 interface module, and a “422” ARINC 429 interface module. The ARINC 429 and the MIL-STD-1553 are two common avionics databus protocols widely used in the aeronautics and defense industry. These protocols are designed for reliable and secure data transmission between different systems and devices that are used in the construction of commercial and fighter airplanes. However, these databases cannot be accessed directly from a PXI, PXIe, PCI or other systems.

The LV-222-511-442 works as an intermediate module between PXIe systems, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553 protocols. This PXI Avionics Multiprotocol Interface Module is offered in the standard PXI form-factor and has 18 channels. 16 channels are ARINC 429 channels and 2 are Single-Function MIL-STD-1553 channels. This module comes with a carrier module that can host as many as two similar or dissimilar interface modules. However, you can always upgrade or downgrade your LV-222-511-442 by adding, swapping, or removing the installed modules to create an interface system that suits your requirements. This module also features built-in IBIT, CBIT, and PBIT circuitries for automatic testing.
