National Instruments PXI-8220 PC Card Carrier
The National Instruments PXI-8220 (Part Number: 777689-01) is a 2-Slot PC Card Carrier. This model features a 2-Slot PC Card adapter in a single-slot PXI module. Thus, it can accept two PC cards, providing the user with more options for expanding their PXI and CompactPCI systems. The NI PXI 8220 can also be used to add any functionality available in PCMCIA plug-ins. This module can be used with the legacy PXI embedded controllers, such as the NI PXI-8150, PXI-8150B, and PXI-8170 Series.
The PXI-8220 is fully compatible with the PCMCIA (16-bit) and can handle 16-bit PCMCIA PC Cards as well. This module can control two entirely independent PC card sockets. It accepts either one type III PC card or two type I or type II PC cards. For handling PCMCIA PC Cards, this PC Card Carrier comes with a distinctive feature of the PXI specification called Serialized IRQ. The Serialized IRQ works by implementing standard ISA interrupt requests in PXI or CompactPCI systems. This arrangement offers a reliable chasm of communication between ISA legacy components like PCMCIA with PCI controllers and components.
The PXI-8220 Card adapter has two independent LED status indicators. These indicators confirm that the PC Card being used is correctly configured and installed. This module comes with an integrated supply that provides the required power to either 3.3 or 5 V PC Cards. The NI PXI-8220 comes equipped with two 68-pin PC Card sockets, weighs around 140 g (5 oz), and has dimensions of 16.0 by 10.0 cm.
PXI-8220 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the carrier will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
