This model features two Hi-Speed USB ports, a 10/100/1000BASE-TX (Gigabit) Ethernet port, as well as an integrated hard drive. By using state-of-the-art packaging, this controller integrates standard I/O features in a single unit. By type, the PXI-8101 is a modular PC and is designed in 3U-size form factor.
This controller comes with a pre-installed OS and allows the user to install a different OS as well. To couple with any PXI backplane trigger line, the National Instruments PXI-8101 comes equipped with a front panel SMB connector.
The NI device operates using the NI-DAQmx driver software, which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual Studio .NET, NI-VISA, and Measurement Studio. The instrument is equipped with a variety of I/O connectors such as: a 24-pin DVI-I video connector, a 9-pin D-SUB (RS-232 serial port), an RJ45 Ethernet port, a 36-pin Champ (IEEE 1284 parallel port), an SMB trigger connector, and a stacked USB 4-pin Series A receptacle.
The NI PXI-8101 has two front panel LEDs that show PC status to keep the user purged with real-time information. In addition, a controller reset push button is also provided on the front panel that can be used for issuing a total reset command to the controller. For fast data storage at high rates, the National Instruments PXI-8101 features one 2.5 in. SATA notebook type internal hard disk drive. This model also supports more flexible options as it comes with USB storage support. The device weighs 1.42 lbs., with the dimensions: 1.59 x 5.14 x 8.51 in.
PXI-8101 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
