National Instruments USB-9221
Designed for industrial use, the National Instruments USB-9221 (Part Numbers: 779440-01, 779439-01) data acquisition module provides quick setup and measurements with plug-and-play USB connectivity. It enables direct connection to industrial sensors and has eight single-ended analog input channels with an extended input range of ±60 V.
The USB-9221 is the fastest device in the USB DAQ with signal conditioning family, with a maximum single-channel sampling rate of 800 kS/s. This module has a large common-mode voltage range, noise immunity, and channel-to-earth ground isolation, all of which provide maximum safety. It also has isolation voltages of 1,000 Vrms for DSUB connectors and 2,300 Vrms for screw terminals, as well as overvoltage protection up to ±100 V.
The USB-9221 has standard D-Sub and screw-terminal connector options, allowing for versatile and economical signal wiring. Since portability is crucial in high-voltage applications including portable data logging, academic lab use, industrial testing, embedded OEM applications, and in-vehicle data collecting, its small size (12.1 by 8.6 by 2.5 cm) makes it the perfect choice. Maximum USB power usage is 500 mA, whereas 2.5 mA is used in suspend mode.
The module is compliant with the high-speed USB 2.0 requirements. Every channel has a 25-pin DSUB connection or a removable high-voltage screw-terminal backshell. A common terminal that is internally connected to the module's isolated ground reference is another feature of the USB-9221. With the use of a successive approximation register (SAR) type of ADC, the ADC resolution is 12 bits. Its input impedance is made up of a 5 pF capacitance and a 1 MΩ resistance.
Its input bandwidth is minimum 950 kHz. The channel-to-earth ground isolation rating is 2,300 Vrms for measurement category II conditions and 250 Vrms for continuous operation. The recommended software includes LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio Measurement Services Software (included), NI-DAQmx driver software, and VI Logger Lite data-logging software. Operating systems supported include Windows 2000 and XP.
