The NI 777554-01 performs precise measurements with 5½ digits of DC voltage and current, AC rms voltage and current, and resistance (ohms). Electronic desktop, portable field, and automated production testing are the intended uses for this multimeter. It comes with several test probes with safety banana plugs, meeting global safety requirements, including UL 3111 and IEC 1010-1. Before using any probes or accessories not provided by National Instruments, users should ensure they meet appropriate safety requirements for the expected signal levels.
This model features an Autozeroing function, which removes the impact of temperature drift on measurement accuracy. Autozeroing disconnects the external signals from the circuit, internally shorts the input of the NI 777554-01, and takes a measurement. Ideally, this value should be zero; autozeroing automatically eliminates this error. Autozeroing is not supported in AC voltage, AC current, and diode modes. When using external multiplexer/matrix switches, these devices are designed to integrate seamlessly with National Instruments switch offerings for SCXI and PXI. The switches are controlled by two signals: Trigger Input and Voltmeter Complete Trigger Output. These signals are accessed through two BNC connectors on the auxiliary trigger cable. On PXI, the triggers can also be accessed through the PXI trigger bus.
The offers multiple reading rates, which are determined by resolution, function, range selections, and powerline rejection. The maximum reading rate is 60 readings per second, once the initial setup time affecting the first reading is passed. This DMM can measure the forward drop (up to 2 V) across a diode, biased with a 100 µA current. The resulting voltage drop is measured with a fixed range of 2 V.
