The LV-222-555-000 (Part Number: 784800-01) is an Interface Module. This module is based on a carrier module from the Astronics OmniBus2 product portfolio. The carrier module can host as many as two interface modules. These interface modules are offered in a variety of types and with different numbers of channels. The interface module incorporated in this module is designed to provide an interface between the PXI and MIL-STD-1553 data bus. The MIL-STD-1553 databus is one of the most widely used communication protocols in the avionics and aeronautical industries. This protocol defines the rules of communication and its parameters between various devices, systems, and resources that are commonly found in airplanes. In other words, the MIL-STD-1553 controls the flow of information across the local area network that exists in highly sophisticated flying machines.
The MIL-STD-1553 databus cannot be accessed directly from PXI or any other type of communication system. The LV-222-555-000 is an ideal solution for design and testing applications where the avionics databuses need to be accessed. The default configuration of the LV-222-555-000 PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module allows the module to be used for interference between PXI and MIL-STD-1553. Still, you can expand this system and its functionality to ARINC 429 databuses by adding an ARINC 429 interface module. Similarly, you can enhance the channel count of your LV-222-555-000 by adding another single function or multifunction MIL-STD-1553 module into the existing system. This modular construction brings tremendous scalability for users with dynamic requirements. This PXI MIL-STD-1553 Interface Module also has error detection and generation features.
