National Instruments 782356-01 PXI RF Multiplexer Switch Module

The National Instruments 782356-01 is a PXI RF Multiplexer Switch Module that is designed for top-notch RF applications. This unit is also identified as PXI-2796. This module features dual 6x1 multiplexer banks within a single unit. It operates with a bandwidth of up to 40 GHz that makes it suitable for managing high-order harmonics from PXI RF Signal Upconverter modules. It can also route multiple sources to PXI RF Signal Downconverter modules. The module supports a maximum voltage of 30 Vrms for cold-switching. This multiplexer has a maximum current carrying capacity of 0.6 Arms per channel. It can handle a maximum RF power of 18 W on a 50 Ω load. 

The 782356-01 PXI RF multiplexer maintains a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω with minimal insertion loss. The insertion loss is less than 0.2 dB up to 3 GHz and increases gradually to 1.1 dB at 40 GHz. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) ranges from less than 1.2 up to 3 GHz to less than 2.2 at 40 GHz. Open channel isolation values also exceed 80 dB up to 3 GHz and maintain a significant isolation up to 40 GHz. This module’s trigger characteristics include input and output triggers through PXI trigger lines. The minimum pulse width for input triggers is 150 ns. The pulse width of the output trigger may be adjusted between 1 and 62 µs. The operate/release time of the relay is 15 ms, and the module is designed for a recommended cycle speed of 5 channels per second.

This instrument is constructed with Radiall R592 series electromechanical relay that features gold-plated beryllium copper contacts. It includes 14 x SMA 2.9 jacks for I/O connections. The module fits into a 3U, two-slot PXI/cPCI module space, with dimensions of 21.6 cm x 4.1 cm x 13.0 cm. The net weight of the 782356-01 unit is 378 g. It requires a PXI power supply of 2.5 W at 3.3 V, 1 W at 5 V, and 6 W at 12 V. The operating temperature range for the 782356-01 module is 0 °C to 55 °C. It also supports relative humidity levels from 5% to 85% and can be used at altitudes up to 2000 meters.
