National Instruments 778647-01 Replacement Power Supply and Fan Shuttle
The 778647-01 from National Instruments is a Replacement Power Supply and Fan Shuttle designed specifically for the PXI-1044 and PXI-1045 Chassis. The modular nature of this power supply and fan shuttle makes it incredibly easy to replace a failed supply, which helps to reduce downtime. In fact, the MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) of the device is less than 5 minutes.
The 778647-01 is equipped with both cooling fans and fan-control circuits—the fan-speed selector switch can be found on the rear panel of the device. The “HIGH” setting is recommended for optimal cooling performance, while the “AUTO” setting offers a more silent operation. When “AUTO” is selected, the fan speed is determined by the temperature of the air-intake.
The 778647-01 Replacement Power Supply includes the necessary circuitry to control a front-panel LED that indicates when there is a power supply failure. The device has universal AC input which includes automatic voltage and frequency ranging and a push-reset circuit breaker for over-current protection. The AC input voltage ranges from 100–240 VAC, and the input frequency measures a range of 50/60 Hz. The voltage and frequency ranges under operating conditions measure 90–264 VAC and 47–63 Hz, respectively. The rating for the AC input current of the 778647-01 is 10–5 A, and it is safeguarded from overcurrent damage with a 12 A circuit breaker.
The rear panel of the ppower supply shuttle features a 9-Pin D-SUB connector, and the main power comes from an AC power cable. The power switch on the front panel controls the DC power given to the CompactPCI/PXI backplane. The DC outputs of the 778647-01 are protected from overloading or short circuiting with an automatic recovery feature.
The 778647-01 is fastened to the chassis by ten mounting screws. These can be removed by using a number one Phillips screwdriver. When removing the power supply shuttle, make sure to pull its two rear handles.
