It is a specialized programmable power supply designed for battery simulation. It simulates a lithium‑ion battery cell’s transient speed, output resistance, and 2‑quadrant operation (source/sink). Essential for many RF and wireless applications, the simulator’s fast transient response time allows it to quickly respond to changes in load current with minimal voltage dip. 

This makes the part number 781155-01 ideal for powering devices under test (DUTs) such as RF power amplifiers, cellular handsets, and various other mobile devices. To more accurately model a battery's behavior, the onboard programmable output resistance can simulate a battery’s internal resistance. Moreover, this Power Supply device features integrated current measurement for quiescent and standby measurements. In addition to the battery test system channel, this model also offers a supplemental 8 V, 1.5 A charger test system channel for power management ICs. 

Users have the option to sequence and trigger outputs and measurements via the PXI backplane for synchronization with digital I/O and RF instrumentation. This device includes overvoltage protection, it automatically disconnects the output if the voltage at the Output + terminal exceeds the programmed voltage by 2.5 V, typical. It also ensures precise voltage regulation, with a maximum deviation of 3 mV per amp of output load when using remote sensing at the connector.
