National Instruments 781217-01 PXI RF Analog Signal Generator

The National Instruments 781217-01 PXI RF Analog Signal Generator, which is the descriptive number of the PXIe-5652 model, is a high-performance and adaptable instrument made for a range of RF testing and signal manufacturing uses. Both low-frequency and high-frequency applications can benefit from this signal generator's frequency range of 500 kHz to 6.6 GHz. From <-111 dBc/Hz at 100 MHz to <-84 dBc/Hz at 6.6 GHz, it delivers remarkable spectral purity with single sideband phase noise values at 10 kHz offset.

The 781217-01 has the ability to generate continuous waves and offers two-level frequency-shift keying (2-FSK), on-off keying (OOK), and frequency modulation (FM). This device is capable of high-resolution frequency hopping and phase-continuous sweeping through the use of direct digital synthesis (DDS). These features are essential for applications involving the characterization of fixtures and devices. Because of this, the 781217-01 is perfect for clocking nonstandard sample rates at baseband or intermediate frequency (IF), like those seen in WCDMA communications.

Users can do both digital and analog modulation with the integrated DDS circuit. Although it does not accept external modulation sources, the 781217-01 can modulate sine, triangle, and square waveform types for FM radio. Many applications, such as bit error rate testing, antenna testing, and keyless entry systems, benefit from this versatility. The resolution of the signal generator is frequency dependent; it is <3 Hz up to 1.3GHz, <6 Hz from 1.3GHz to 3.3GHz, and <12 Hz from 3.3GHz to 6.6GHz.

With an initial precision of ±3ppm maximum, the internal clock of the 781217-01 guarantees precise frequency generation. It keeps its stability at ±1 ppm maximum between 15 ºC and 35 ºC and its aging rate at ±5 ppm maximum each year. In terms of jitter performance, the 781217-01 excels with a jitter measurement of <200 fs RMS at 622 MHz with a 1 kHz to 5 MHz jitter bandwidth and <50 fs RMS at 2.488 GHz with a 5 kHz to 15 MHz jitter bandwidth.
